 7.  9 Noyes Place:  Robert Griffin has filed an application with the Zoning Board of Appeal for zoning variance to expand 1st floor unit living space into the basement.

 

8.  139-145 Richmond Street (aka 188 North Street):  David P.Veo, Trustee of Salada Realty Trust, has filed an application with the Zoning Board of Appeal to allow the conversion of existing retail space to a sandwich shop, and for a 36A take-out permit to allow take-out service at this location.

 

9. 396 Hanover Street, formerly Contrada’s Coffee Shop:  Daniel Delia and Ralph Verrocchi d/b/a ”My Cousins Place,” have filed an application with the Zoning Board of Appeal to change the allowed use from “store with take-out” to “restaurant with take-out,” to remove the existing proviso“take-out service to this petitioner only,” and to grant a new 36A take-out to new business owner.  They have also filed an application with the Licensing Board for a 7-day CV license.

 

10. 236 Hanover Street, Lucca Restaurant:  Lucca Restaurant has filed an application with the City of Boston Transportation Department for a valet parking permit.

 7.  51-53 North Washington Street; 55 & 57-59 Cooper Street, former Joe Tecce’s Restaurant: Michele Holdings, LLC has filed an appeal for zoning relief to change the occupancy of the former Joe Tecce’s Restaurant to residential units.

 

8.  28 Parmenter Street: Sandy Russo, owner/operator of LuLu’s Candy Shoppe located at 61 Salem Street has entered into a lease agreement with the land owner of 28 Parmenter Street to open a retail business at that location.  No zoning relief or CV license is required.

 

9. 5-6 Lathrop Place; 19 & 29 North Square, Paul Revere House:  the Paul Revere Memorial Association has filed an appeal for zoning relief to convert the existing residential property to accessory cultural use, renovate the courtyard and provide improved access as part of the expansion plans for the Paul Revere House.

 

10. 280-292 Commercial Street, Laz Parking:  Laz Parking has filed for renewal of its conditional use permit for open air parking (69 space parking lot).

5.  227 Hanover Street, Hot Tomatoes (formerly Lulu’s and Lyndell’s bakeries), has filed an appeal with the City of Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeals seeking zoning relief to change the use of the premises from a bakery to a small take-out restaurant, and has applied to the Licensing Board for the City of Boston for a 7-day Common Victualler (CV) license.

6.  Salem Street Sewer Project:  Presentation by Irene McSweeney, Director of Construction for the Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC), on the BWSC’s plans to rehabilitate and replace a major section of the Salem Street sewer system from Cross Street to Hull Street, the work involved and the expected impact on residents and businesses.  The BWSC will commence work in October.    

7.  Update on parking tickets:  James Mansfield, City of Boston Transportation Department, will give an update on the summer statistics of non-resident parking tickets issued (either in the North End or the city overall) and answer questions.  

8.  North End Stories Project:  Presentation by Jeanne Dasaro on her Oral History Project, “North End Stories” that aims to collect, preserve and share the stories of Italian-Americans whose families immigrated to Boston’s North End in the late 19th and early 20th century.

6.  Bike Lanes:  Presentation by Nicole Freedman on the Boston Bikes Program.  The current proposal is for a bike lane along Atlantic Avenue and Commercial Street with the removal of approximately 5-10 parking spaces.

7.  55-57 North Washington Street, Michelle Holdings LLC, has filed an appeal with the City of Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeals seeking zoning relief to change the legal occupancy of the building from a restaurant and 12 residential units to a restaurant and 16 residential units.  The first floor of the building houses a portion of Joe Tecce’s Ristorante.  The plans include the conversion of the existing second floor dining/function room into 4 residential units.

8.  69 Prince Street, El Triunfo Restaurant, Daniel Surian, has applied to the City of Boston’s Licensing Board for a 36A Take Out license to be exercised at this address.

9.  162 Endicott Street, Glenn Taylor, will present an update on the emergency egress agreement with Harold Kalick. Note: Tabled by the Council at the June 13th NEWNC meeting.

  8. 10 Hanover Ave., Sean O’Connor has applied to the City of Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeals seeking permission to add one bedroom and one bathroom to existing unit (#3). This application will also require the building to go from 4 stories to 5 stories with a roof deck.

  9. 162 Endicott St., Glenn Taylor has applied to the City of Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeals seeking permission to extend living space of the first floor condominium into the basement.

  10. 342 Hanover St., Daniel Costa d/b/a White Hen Pantry has applied to the City of Boston’s Licensing Board for a Beer and Wine Retail License to be exercised at the above address.

  11. 44 North Bennet Street, Peter McGinnis has filed an appeal with the City of Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeals seeking to expand the rooftop head house into a residential unit that would include a roof deck. The expansion would increase the height of the front of the building from 42 feet to 52 feet.

7. Candidates Night - All eligible candidates for NEWNC’s May 14th elections will be given 5 minutes each to introduce themselves to the community.

Fairmont Battery Wharf, 20-50 Battery Street, has applied to the City of Boston’s Licensing Board to amend its C.V. 7-Day All-Alcohol Beverages License to extend the closing hour of their outdoor patio service from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM. They have also applied to the City of Boston’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing for entertainment on the patio.

9. 351 Hanover Street, Volle Nolle, Torri Crowell has applied to the City of Boston’s Licensing Board for a new 7-Day C.V. Malt and Wine License.

6.    The Boston Transportation Department’s Director of Community Affairs, James Mansfield, will be present to discuss parking and traffic issues with NEWNC’s new Parking and Traffic Committee.

 

7.    227-237 Hanover Street, Tresca Restaurant, Tresca Restaurant Group, LLC has applied to the Licensing Board for the City of Boston to extend their hours of operation  from midnight, 7 days, to 1:00 AM, 7 days.  Tresca currently holds  C.V. All-Alcohol Beverage License.

 

8.    99 Salem Street, Mercato del Mare, Liz Ventura and Keri Cassidy seek Board of Appeal approval to change the use of the building's basement level from retail food market to retail food market with take-out.

 

NOTE: That once again our meeting will be taking place in the Pilot House at Lewis Wharf, 2 Atlantic Avenue.
